whether you’re nuts about the holidays in a “gimme xmas lights the day after Halloween and let’s cover my apartment in them now” way or have some mild fuzzy feelings around, say, any time of year that allows you to nosh on peppermint everything and drink hot boozey drinks, i think we can all agree that there are some delightful holiday movies out there. i want to draw your attention to one aspect of these festive films that you may or may not have been taking for granted: the fashion.

let’s take a look.

white  christmas. rosemary clooney and vera-ellen. sure, ellen’s waist is a little scarytiny, but let’s look past that and focus on how we’re going to pull off this retro “so cozy in vermont” look at our next xmas party. sweaters with belts? cuteness.

miracle on 34th street. maureen o’hare looks amazing. i’m not sure if it’s her flawless makeup and hair, perfectly fitted trench, or the way she inspires us to start wearing nylons again that makes her so cool. added bonus- natalie wood as a little girl, being pretty darn cute herself.

a christmas story. i don’t think there’s much, fashion wise, for the ladies here, but i think men should be looking at the stylings of the boys in this film for the winter: wool hats, plaid shirts with warm fuzzy sweaters, corduroys, dorky scarfs? yes. am i alone or do others wish the men in our lives would sport the 1983 look a little more often?

elf. who doesn’t love Zooey Daschanel in as the pretty, shower-singing, mall worker in this movie? cutie pie. not very practical, but if you do have a chance to wear a darling elf costume this season, i say go for it, by all means!

we recommend you snuggle up with one of these fashionable films and get inspired for your next holiday ensemble. we’ll be giving you an amazing vegan hot cocoa recipe in the new few days to go along with your movie night, so keep an eye out for that. i the meantime, give us your holiday movie must-have list- we love a good (looking!) xmas flick!
